The Queen's Jig - D MajorJig

Author: Traditional
Origin: Scotland

This tune was first published in 1701 when it appeared in the 11th edition of Playford’s Dancing Master. It was titled in honor of Queen Anne (1665-1714), who had a rather sad and painful life, often tormented by gout and other diseases. She gave birth at least 17 times but none of her children lived to adulthood. Washington County NY town Fort Anne, not far from Cambridge NY, was also named her.
