This title dates from about 1795 and may be associated with freemasonry, but the tune also appeared as "Seven Stars"in 1750 and likely is based on even older versions. It was probably also a fife and drum tune, and according to oral history may have been played by the American rebels while burning the HMS Gaspée in Warwick, Rhode Island, June 9th, 1772, because it was associated with unpopular trade regulations.
