Lisdoonvarna in County Clare is a former spa town where Victorians went for the healing mineral waters. It is located inland from the Cliffs of Moher. This tune is also known as All the Way to Galway, which exists both as a jig identical to this one and the closely related reel of the same name.
The title of this tune refers to Teviot Bridge in Kelso, Scotland. An Irish version exists under the name The Boys Of Ballinafad, first published in 1903, and also as The Pivot Bridge.
This tune is named for the Cliffs of Moher, along the Atlantic coast northwest of Lahinch, in County Clare. The cliffs are about 8 kilometers long and reach 200 meters in height.
