A dance tune composed in 1846 as "Jenny Lind's Lieblings-Polka," by Anton Wallerstein (1813-1892) to commemorate the "Swedish Nightingale" Johanna Maria "Jenny" Lind (1820–1887). Lind was a famous and wildly popular operatic soprano that toured Europe and America, in later years earning huge sums of money for her performances. The melody was very popular and was published repeatedly, although often without Wallerstein's name.
This tune was written in the 1920's by Fortunat Malouin (1870-1935). The original French language name is "Les Joyeuses Québécoises," which means "Happy Quebec Women." There is a 15-bar C part not included here that is rarely played.
This was written on October 2, 1984 by Judi Morningstar in White Lake, Michigan. The tune was named for St. Timothy’s Methodist Church, where her band Ruffwater Stringband played for over ten years, at a dance sponsored by the Detroit Country Dancers.
