Listings that Need Work

This page provides some useful resources for contributing materials to this site, and also lists the tunes that are missing notes, chords, a recording, origin, history, or (for local tunes only) sheet music.

Resources

In addition to consulting printed material, interviewing authors, and searching the web, the following resources were particularly useful in researching the tune histories that are provided on this site:

Since tunes are often known under several names, searching each of these (and the web in general) using all the names often produces results where a single search will not.

Source Code

You can set up your own local copy of this website, which runs on Flask and Python on Linux or macOS. The source code and all the tune files are available on github. You'll need to clone the repository and run the platform setup script src/platform/setup.py or its equivalent to set up the dependencies. Then use src/website/tunejam.py as the main entry point to start the site running in Flask.

Please contact me for help. I am currently the only developer, and would improve packaging and docs if anyone else wants to join in the effort.
