Pachelbel's Frolics - D MajorHornpipe, Reel

Author: Traditional
Origin: Cape Breton

This tune was based on Kohler's Hornpipe, which was originally published in untitled form around 1881-1885 in the book “Kohler’s Violin Repository”. Kohler's Hornpipe is in the Cape Breton repertoire, where it was played in the key of C by John Morris Rankin. Seamus Eagan learned it from him and transposed it into D, before it was further reworked by Eileen Ivers into a form similar to what we play.
